Fall Striped Knit Sweater 3 Ways | H&M Turtleneck Sweater

Happy fall-ish! Although it’s not technically Fall, I start thinking of Fall after Labor Day (the unofficial end of summer): cooler mornings, fresh air, and cozy knit sweaters.

Now that I live in Houston, I won’t notice weather changes for a while, but I’ll continue to play along on the blog. And so, I’ve decided to share my favorite fall transition looks featuring cozy knitted sweaters. The featured fall striped knit sweater in this post is from H&M. H&M has some of the best knits, especially when it comes to neutrals (my favorite)!

The Perfect Knit Sweater

I picked this striped turtleneck sweater in an XS due to its oversized appearance and cropped style. I wanted something that wouldn’t drown me. As a petite woman, it’s always a struggle. However, while it was a bit oversized, it fit perfectly, landing at my waist and allowed just enough space to layer underneath.

I also chose to get a striped pattern instead of all cream because stripes are a good way for petite women to elongate their look. The caveat to this is to opt-in for vertical stripes instead of horizontal stripes. Like the rebel I am, I don’t always follow fashion rules. I chose a horizontal stripe since I have long legs and appear taller in photos, especially when wearing shorts, which is my favorite way to pair knits. So, if you’re petite like me and don’t always follow fashion rules, here are some ways to style a striped knit sweater. If you’re not petite, then these styles are perfect for you!

  1. Shorts & Knit Pairing

This pair has got to be one of my favorites. I love showing off my legs and wearing heels, although you can pair these with some white sneakers like the Nike Court Visions. You can choose jeans shorts for a casual look or short trousers for a bit more of a preppy look.

Both outfits I accessorized with my MVMT Signature II watch (click here for the discount link and save 15%), Mejuri ring, Target sunnies, and Zara sandals. I paired the casual look with the Coach Klare bag and a black pouch bag from Amazon for the preppy look. For more on this pouch bag, check out this post.

  1. Leather Skirt & Knit Pairing

I love leather in the Fall! I love the smooth, shiny look and feel of leather so pairing it with a knit sweater is a great way to mix textures. I paired this knit with a pleated skirt I picked up from Zara last Fall and Chanel slingback dupes from Marc Fisher at Macy’s. This is a playful, preppy look perfect for school, work, or attending an art show. The beret gives it that creative edge.

Another option is to pair it with a short pencil faux leather skirt. Though it’s not shown above, I’ve linked similar items below.

  1. High-Waist Trousers & Knit Pairing

High-waist trousers are a great way to pair knits, especially when the temperature is a bit lower and you want to keep your legs warm. I paired the knit with these trousers from Zara. I rave about these Zara trousers for petite women like myself because they fit perfectly. Check out this post to read more about these trousers. I also paired this with the Christian Louboutin So Kates for a chic professional look.

Thanks for stopping by, as always live happily, healthily, and beautifully! — Syndie

You look absolutely amazing! The kind of woman i´d lay flat on my back in a puddle for myself if i didn´t have a jacket so you wouldn´t have to ruin your heels. 😉
