How to Practice Gratitude

Hey beauties, are you practicing gratitude?

Often, we let all the negative things and thoughts consume us that we lose sight of all the positivity surrounding us. Below are some ways to cultivate gratitude.

What is Gratitude?

Based on dicitionary.com,

gratitude (n), [ grat-i-tood, -tyood]: the quality of being grateful or thankful. It’s expressing appreciation for what you have. This time more than ever, one should express gratitude.

Why practice gratitude?

Practicing gratitude has many benefits for one; it’s a great mood booster. There have been times I was feeling down and appreciating the things I had helped me feel happier. To note, these things do have to be material possessions. Based on Maslow’s Hierarchy of needs, these things included basic needs like food, warmth, health, and security. Sometimes we forget that these are essential parts of life that some are not fortunate to have.

Another great benefit of practicing gratitude is that by showing appreciation, the universe will return things you desire, which helps to manifest things you wish in your life.

How to practice gratitude?

  1. Write down three good things that happened daily. This could be in a journal or on a sticky note. Whatever you choose to use, keep those, and periodically revisit them.
  2. Write, “thank-you notes.” This could be “thank you notes” to yourself, friend, family, to the universe, another excellent form of manifestation.
  3. Imagine the direction you’d like your life to take. See yourself in this vision that you have for yourself.
  4. Spend time with your loved ones to appreciate them.
  5. Volunteer, a few years ago, I spent a day at the Boston Greater Food Bank, packing food for those less fortunate, and it made me appreciate that I had food at home.

As always live your life happily, healthily, and beautifully.
